Patna, June 10: They waited with the perseverance of a Test batsman. Now it’s time to take a bow.

As the CBSE Class X results for the Patna region — that includes both Bihar and Jharkhand — were declared today at 10.40am, there was a mad rush to cyber cafés. Several students, who do not have an Internet connection at home, rushed to the Net hubs to download their results online.

After a few anxious moments, most of them came out smiling. Though there were some reservations about the grading system, the students were happy with the overall results. The scorching heat — it was as high as 37°C today — did not deter the celebrations.

Vishal Kumar, a student of RPS Residential School, Danapur, who got a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 9, said: “The results have met my expectations. But if the marking system had been followed instead of the grading system, the students would have been better judged.”

Last year, the CBSE has introduced the grading system under which students are awarded grades instead of marks. As a result, names of toppers were not announced.

In the Patna region, around 92,278 students had taken the examination. Around 57,882 students appeared from the Bihar region, and 34,396 students took the exam from Jharkhand. Of these, around 23,582 students took the school-based exam, while 68,696 students opted for the board-based examination.

The pass percentage of students in the Patna region this year was 99.51 per cent.

In DAV BSEB, 72 students were awarded grade A1, which means that their CGPA was 10. Grade A2 or CGPA 9 was awarded to 230 students of this school.

DAV BSEB principal Ramanuj Prasad told The Telegraph: “All credit goes to the students, teachers and employees of the school.”

He added that there was no shortcut to success and students should continuously strive to better their performance.

Students of most city-based CBSE-affiliated schools fared well. Many students got the coveted A1 grade.

In Gyan Niketan, 78 students got CGPA 10. Around 242 students of the school took the exam. A hundred got A2 grade.

In Loyala High School, Kurji, 240 students took the Class X examination this year. Of them, 12 got A1 grade.

Thirty-one students of St Karen’s Secondary School were awarded grade A1, and 88 students awarded grade A2.

From this school, 325 students had taken the exam.

In St Karen’s, 128 students got A1 in information technology.

In Baldwin Academy, 193 students took the exam. Of them, 19 got a CGPA of 10.

In RPS Residential School, six students got a CGPA of 10. Sixty-seven students got a CGPA of 9.

Around 182 students of Ishan International Public School, Kankerbagh, took the exam this year. Sixty-five of them got a CGPA of 10.

In this school, 84 students got a CGPA of 10 in English, while 127 students got a CGPA of 10 in science subjects.

In Christ Church Diocesan School, 202 students took the exam but only eight got a CGPA of 10.

Some school, however, did not perform well.

Only one student of Premlok Mission School on the Patna-Gaya Road got a CGPA of 10. Eight students of the school got a CGPA of 9.
