Patna, Jan. 20: Getting a job is a challenge but working like a professional today was “fun” for students of advertising, sales promotion and sales management department at Patna Women’s College.

The department has organised a two-day-long workshop “Munris 2012” on the college grounds to allow the students a practical stint in advertising and sales promotion.

Mahin Fatma, a BA Part III student of the department, said: “This is the best practical experience we could get at our college. Various brands, including Nokia, local shops and coaching institutes have put up 33 stalls at the workshop while six kiosks have been set up by Part III and PG students.”

The challenge for the Part I and Part II students was to convince the brands and shops to sponsor the workshop and set up their stalls. Now the senior students have to compete with the brands and sell their products. The students are mainly selling gifts and stationery items, cosmetic products and food items.

Part III student Tahmina Jamil, the team leader of Cosmania (cosmetics stall), is selling both branded and non-branded products to the customers — Patna Women’s College students. She said: “The branded items are a hit at our stall, though we have also been able to sell the non-branded cosmetics. We have sold products worth Rs 20,000 within three hours of opening the stall,” said Tahmina.

The USP of their stall, the most important part of advertising and sales, Tahmina said is tattoo and eye make-up counters.

Last heard, the students are also being evaluated by secret judges. The results would be announced on Saturday. May the best man, err, best team win.
