Begusarai, June 12 (PTI): Angry passengers on Saturday night ransacked Lakhminia railway station after the Katihar-Barauni passenger train remained stranded there for over five hours.
According to East Central Railway authorities, the movement of passenger trains were suspended from 11am to 6pm in Barauni-Khagaria section because of installation work of the inter-locking system in the tracks. The work started on Saturday and the movement of passenger trains would remain suspended for the same duration daily till June 15, sources said. After the train reached Lakhminia, it was not allowed to resume its journey because of the works.
After waiting for over five hours, the passengers became impatient. They started shouting slogans against the authorities, the sources said.
They also misbehaved with the railway employees and ransacked offices and the ticket-counter at the station, the sources said.
