Cyber guru…

Is 17-year-old Kumar Abhishek who ranked international first at the 11th National Cyber Olympiad organised by Science Olympiad Foundation, New Delhi. The results came in March.

Gadget freak…

Abhishek has also built a few machines. His creations include an automatic school bell timer and an automatic crop irrigator for which he got the first prize at an exhibition organised by Srikrishna Science Centre last year.

First tools…

That Abhishek laid his hands on to assemble his early gadgets belonged to his maternal uncle Ashutosh Kumar Mehta. Apart from his uncle, Abhishek’s parents — Manoj and Anamika Kakkar — are a constant support.

Computer savvy…

Abhishek knows different languages such as C, C++, C#, VB and Java. A Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana fellow last year, he also topped the 2010 ICSE in Bihar. Abhishek and his partner beat 50 school teams to win the All India Inter-School Championship Technothlon 2009 organised by IIT-Guwahati at the institute’s fest. He had also aced the American Spell Bee 2009, an inter-school event organised by American Center, Calcutta.

Career concern…

Is the last thing on Abhishek’s mind. The teen is confident he will become a scientist one day.
