Dabangg girl Sonakshi Sinha is likely come to Patna to promote her new venture on the silver screen Rowdy Rathore, along with her leading man Akshay Kumar.
“Sonakshi and Akshay may visit Patna later this month to promote their film,” a source close to Sonakashi told The Telegraph on Sunday.
Repeated attempts to contact the PR firm promoting the film to confirm the date of visit, however, proved futile.
The action-drama — directed by iconic dancer Prabhu Deva and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ronnie Screwvala — has already made a stir with its peppy songs like Chinta ta china… and glitzy promos. The remake of Telugu super hit Vikramarkudu is scheduled to hit the big screens on June 1.
The promotional tour would be Sonakshi’s first visit to the state capital since she became a superstar. It would also be Akshay’s first visit.
Sonakshi’s father Shatrughan Sinha did not confirm her visit, but he told The Telegraph: “She should come to Patna. Last time (after Dabangg was released), she could not come to Bihar because of time constraint. But this time, she should surely visit Patna for the promotion of her film.”
He added: “At present, she is very busy with her other projects like Lootera, Dabangg 2, Joker and Son of Sardar. All these films are in queue after Rowdy Rathore.”
Discussing Rowdy Rathore, Sinha said he was proud of his daughter’s performance. “I shall be there in Mumbai during the release of the film. Dabangg has given her (Sonakshi) great confidence. For that, I am grateful to Salman Khan and his family, who treated Sonakshi as one of their own. Akshay, too, has shown a similar regard for my family and me.”
The proud father also praised Sonakshi’s short but successful career graph. “She has made her mark in Bollywood on her own terms and conditions. Her mother has inculcated the values in her. I have given her only one piece of advice — be better than the best and different from the rest,” he said.
He also candidly discussed a few misses of Sonakshi. “I am a little disappointed that she could not work in Kamal Haasan’s film Vishwaroopam. I wanted Sonakshi to act in the film so that she would have been able learn a few acting skills from him. But she could not do the film as there were problems with dates.”
