Patna, Oct. 14: Patna University would soon have more organised sports and cultural events. For, vice-chancellor Shambhu Nath Singh has decided to reconstitute the institute’s sports and cultural boards.
The two boards have been defunct for the past few years.
The decision to revamp the two boards was taken at a meeting on Thursday. Sources said the objective of reconstituting the boards is to promote the sports and cultural activities that have taken a backseat since as they were not functioning.
Singh told The Telegraph: “The sports and cultural boards have been defunct for the past few years. Both will be reconstituted.”
He pointed out that once the students get different opportunities to showcase their talents, the number of nefarious activities on as well as off the campus would come down.
Singh added that a number of students get admission to the university through sports and cultural quotas. “How can these students be ignored?” the VC said. He added that the university is looking to improve on the infrastructure required for both sports and cultural activities.
