More than 100 people from the Christian community assembled at Gregorios Orthodox Syrian Church to celebrate Palm Sunday on Sunday. On this auspicious occasion, special service was organised at the church following a procession with palm and coconut leaves. Later the palm leaves were distributed among devotees. Father Shaiju Philip said: “Palm Sunday is a Christian feast that falls on Sunday before the Easter. On this day, people of Jerusalem recognised Jesus as their king.” It commemorates Jesus’s entry into Jerusalem five days before his crucifixion. Palm Sunday marks the beginning of the Holy Week.
