Patna: The 15-year-old son of an associate professor of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)-Patna who committed suicide by shooting himself with an illegal weapon last week had purchased the weapon from his friends.
Akshat had purchased the pistol at Rs 40,000 from two boys whom he knew. Haroon Nagar resident Okasha and Chauhar Mal Nagar resident Suraj had provided the gun to Akshat for Rs 40,000.
Sources said Akshat had hidden the fact from his parents that he had purchased a pistol. Akshat on last Wednesday (June 13) morning committed suicide when the other family members were fast asleep at his father Dr Tribhuvan Kumar's government quarters at the highly-secured AIIMS-Patna premises.
Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj said: "The police has formed a special investigation team headed by Phulwari DSP Ramakant. The police have come to know that Okasha and Suraj had provided the pistol to the boy." He added: "The police have arrested the two youths who gave the pistol." Sources said based on the notebook recovered from Akshat's room, the police are conducting a probe. The notebook contains the name of his friends and their mobile numbers. The notebook also contains details about drugs and weapons.
Sources said Okasha is friend of a boy who is a classmate of Akshat. A police officer investigating the case said: "The police will also quiz some of the friends and classmates of the deceased and also family members as from where he managed to get Rs 40,000 for purchasing the gun."
He added: "The deceased's family members have feigned ignorance about the huge cash Akshat had for purchasing the pistol."
The police had also come to know that the boy had developed a friendship with some criminals in the past couple of months. The police are also trying to gather more information about the case from Akshat's cellphone and a laptop which was seized from the spot for forensic analysis.
Akshat was the eldest son of Dr Tribhuwan Kumar, an assistant professor of physiology, at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Patna. Akshat's younger brother studies in Class VI and his mother Kumari Neelu is a homemaker. Akshat was supposed to appear for his board examination next year.
