Devotees coming for the 350th birth anniversary celebrations of tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh would not be able to take their eyes off from Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib.
For the first time, the entire building has been bathed in multi-coloured lights.
Apart from Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib, the buildings of the other gurdwaras in Patna City - Handi Sahib, Gaighat Gurdwara and Guru Ka Bagh - have been lit up with multi-coloured lights for the first time.
"We have spent Rs 4.14 crore on the illumination of the four gurdwaras. The multi-coloured lights have been done permanently. A Bangalore-based company will be doing it," said Om Prakash Amberrkar, the chief engineer of Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC).
The BSTDC is also getting 220 solar lights installed at the main shrine of Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib, Handi Sahib, Guru Ka Bagh and Kangan Ghat at a cost of Rs 2.64 crore.
"A few days back there was power cut at the Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib because of which it was decided that solar lights would be installed at the gurdwara and other important places," added Amberrkar.
A Patna-based company is installing the solar lights at the designated places.
Over 5 lakh devotees are expected to participate in the event, according to gurdwara officials. Apart from prime minister Narendra Modi, home minister Rajnath Singh has confirmed his participation in the event. Over 300 devotees from Punjab have already arrived in Patna City for the event and they are organising langars (free meal services) day and night.
"The state is also illuminating around 6-km stretch of the National Highway-30, which is connected with Guru Gobind Path in Patna City for the event," said Sardar Sarjinder Singh, the general secretary of the temple management committee of Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib.
On Thursday, the temple management committee members of the gurdwara also had a meeting with the ward councillors where they discussed sanitation issues.
"The ward councillors have been asked to ensure cleanliness in their respective wards. We have also appealed residents to ensure the same," said Daljeet Singh, the superintendent of the temple management committee of Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib.
Patna district magistrate Sanjay Kumar Agarwal visited the gurdwara to take stock of the preparations.
"On Friday, we will have a meeting with police and other administrative officials. Crowd control, disaster management and other aspects would be discussed in the meeting," said an official of district administration.
He said women police will be deployed in and around Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib.
