New Delhi, Oct. 29: BJP parliamentarian Shatrughan Sinha yesterday taunted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over India still ranking a poor 130 in the world in ease of doing business and hoped the "dashing dynamic PM" would find a solution.

"India still ranks a poor 130 in the world in terms of 'Ease of doing Business'. Sadly, up only one place from 131 last year!!" the actor and Lok Sabha member from Bihar tweeted, referring to a recent World Bank ranking.

The BJP has been tom-tomming Modi's knack for business-friendly administration, holding up Gujarat as proof.

"Request our dashing dynamic PM to look into this & provide impetus for improvement. We love & look forward to a solution led by you," Shatrughan, a former Union minister, tweeted.

The MP from Patna Sahib, sidelined under the current dispensation, is known for his occasional swipes at the government. He had openly criticised his party during last year's Bihar elections while expressing support for rival Nitish Kumar.

On Thursday, Shatrughan had aimed a barb at Modi's claims of a "56-inch chest" while showering praise on Nitish, the "popular CM of Bihar", for securing the release of a kidnapped businessman.

"Heartily congratulate my friend, popular CM of Bihar Nitish Kumar for the brilliant success of his police department & its senior officers," he had tweeted.

He had gone on to praise police officer Manu Maharaj, who had led the operation: "Very impressed by slim & trim, hit & fit Manu Maharaj. He may not have a 56 (inch) chest but his 32 (inch) waist was enough to take care of the goons."

Shatrughan's comments yesterday come close on the heels of BJP veteran and former Union minister Yashwant Sinha embarrassing the party by leading a team of civil liberty activists to Kashmir and meeting the separatists.

The CPM too used a survey by the Labour Bureau, a government arm, to attack the Modi government over the deepening job crisis.

An editorial in party mouthpiece People's Democracy said the survey had revealed that unemployment was at a five-year high of five per cent of the workforce aged 15 and above.

"Over a third of the people at work are employed for less than a year. Based on the Census 2011 figures, 5 per cent of those above 15 years would work out to 2.3 crore persons," it said.

"Further, 35 per cent underemployed would mean nearly 16 crore persons."
