Patna: Former JDU chief Sharad Yadav on Wednesday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Nitish Kumar for the way they are running the government at the Centre and the state.
Attacking the Prime Minister over the PNB scam, Sharad, who was in Patna on Wednesday, said the Centre did not waive off farmers' loans but allowed people like Nirav Modi and Vikram Kothari to take away public money. He also questioned the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI's) role, asking what the officials were doing and what kind of monitoring was in place to stop such huge embezzlement from a nationalised bank.
"These people have looted public money," Sharad said. "In the last five year, Rs 73,000 crore of public money was looted from the bank. The people of the country chose the Narendra Modi government to guard the nation and provide security. After god there is one saviour, the central government. Modi calls himself a super power, but has failed to bring back a single person who escaped from the country with public money."
Sharad accused the BJP of indulging in non-issues like love jihad, ghar wapsi and the cow and said demonetisation and implementation of goods and services tax (GST) had put the country 10 years behind. He also took a dig at Nitish's Japan trip, saying not a single industry had come to Bihar in the 12 years of Nitish's reign. "Can Nitish name a single industry he has established in Bihar," Sharad asked.
The health and education sectors, and law and order were on the verge of collapse, the former JDU leader said. He slammed Nitish for breaking from the Grand Alliance and claimed it was the first time in Indian politics that someone had played with the emotions of 11 crore people.
"Nitish crushed people's trust and the government has lost its moral authority, he said. "Nitish knocked on every door to form the Grand Alliance and he now says he was feeling uncomfortable. He did not feel uncomfortable when asking for votes for the Grand Alliance."
