Patna, April 25: Pipeline gas supply could soon be a reality in the state.
The cabinet today gave its nod to the state industries department for signing a memorandum of understanding with Gail (India) Limited for laying natural gas pipeline in four districts — Gaya, Rohtas, Aurangabad and Kaimur.
“Gail is laying natural gas pipeline between Jagdishpur in Uttar Pradesh and Haldia in Bengal. The provisions in the MoU envisage that Gail would explore the possibility of setting up domestic gas pipeline network in the cities of Bihar near the pipeline,” said Brajesh Mehrotra, secretary, information and public relations department, Bihar.
The cabinet approved the home department’s proposal to create 29 posts of havildar and 522 posts of constables for providing security to ministers, MPs, MLAs and MLCs. Besides, it cleared the proposal of the health department for development of one medical college each at Madhepura and Bettiah districts.
