Patna: The special investigation team (SIT) probing the toilet scam arrested suspected mastermind Biteshwar Prasad Singh from Telangana on Thursday.

Biteshwar, an accountant with the public health and engineering department, was absconding ever since his name figured in the scam, which was detected earlier this month.

Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Manu Maharaaj said on Thursday that acting on a tip-off, a police team was sent to Telangana where Biteshwar was hiding in his relative's house at Ring Basti under the jurisdiction of Jagadgiri Gutta police station of the southern state.

"Biteshwar will be brought to Patna on transit remand from Telangana on Friday. He will be produced in the court after interrogation. He is suspected to be the mastermind of the scam related to misappropriation of government funds meant for construction of toilets in the capital," Maharaaj told The Telegraph.
