Rs 33 crore on I-Day.

Rs 60 crore in three days.

Rs 77 crore in four days.

Rs 100 crore on Id.

Ek Tha Tiger has roared past the century mark at the box office, capping the biggest opening on I-Day to be crowned the fastest entrant to the Rs 100-crore club on Id.

“The film seems to be creating new records every day. Rs 100 crore in five days will be a tough one to break,” Mumbai-based trade analyst Taran Adarsh told Metro.

The love story of a super spy starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif is the fourth Salman film — after Dabangg, Bodyguard and Ready — to enter the Rs 100-crore club.

“Salman is the one creating the records and Salman is the one breaking them. It’s almost become like a one-man industry,” said trade analyst Komal Nahta. Made on a budget of Rs 90 crore and released across 3,300 screens, Tiger is really raking it in for Yash Raj Films.

Like the rest of India, the East too has been in the grip of Sal-mania since August 15. The Bengal circuit has earned Rs 6.5 crore in five days whereas Bihar has totted up about Rs 3 crore. “This is extraordinary,” said Pritam Jalan of Jalan Distributors, the film’s regional distributors. “Id was as good as I-Day,” he added.

In Patna, the film has done business of more than Rs 50 lakh in the first five days, including the Monday morning shows. Ek Tha Tiger is running in two cinemas — Cinepolis, the only multiplex in the city, and the single screen Mona theatre.

While Cinepolis is running 16 shows a day, Mona has four on offer.

“All the shows went houseful in the first five days and the response was similar on Id,” said Cinepolis manager Abhishek Ranjan. Cinepolis (P&M Mall) sold tickets worth Rs 36.62 lakh in the first five days.

It’s Bhai-time, bonanza-time even at the single-screen theatres. At Mona, near Gandhi Maidan, the collections for the first five days stood at around Rs 15.5 lakh. “The houseful board has been a permanent fixture since Wednesday when the film released,” said a senior office-bearer of Mona, who did not wish to be named. He said advance booking for this week was on in full swing. Part of this is owing to repeat audiences.

Like R.K. Gupta of Patliputra who watched it at Cinepolis on Wednesday and relived the experience at Mona on Saturday. “One needs to watch Salman’s films at a single screen theatre to know what fan frenzy is all about,” said the 40-year-old marketing professional.

With Rs 100 crore reached in record time, the eye of the Tiger is on the magic mark of Rs 202 crore set by Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots. “Rs 185 crore is a given and Rs 200 crore is a distinct possibility,” said trade analyst Nahta.
