The private clinics and nursing homes in the district were back to business on Sunday after doctors called off their three-day strike late on Saturday night following safety assurance from police.

The district president of Indian Medical Association (IMA), M.A. Rahim, said on Sunday the organisation decided to end the strike after the deputy superintendent of police (city), Upendra Prasad, on Saturday night assured that the security concerns of the doctors would be taken care of.

The officer said Mohammad Razi Ahmad, the prime accused in vandalism at Dr C.B. Kumar’s clinic, had surrendered in the district court on Saturday evening.

Razi has been forwarded to Khudiram Bose Memorial Central Jail.

Medics owing allegiance to IMA had announced a three-day strike from Friday midnight.

The police are also trying to zero in on another person, accused of vandalising the clinic of Dr Anzar Ahmad in Barhampura.

The cops have launched a manhunt for the criminals involved in the attack on Dr Ahmad.

Upendra, the DSP, said he had started investigation in a medical negligence case lodged at Barhampura police station against Dr Durga Shankar by attendants of a patient.

Representatives of IMA had submitted a petition seeking fresh investigation in the case against Dr Shankar.

IMA secretary Sanjay Kumar said the association representatives would meet after a week and review the safety assurance given by the police to prevent attacks on doctors and nursing homes.
