Patna, Feb. 1: Handmade products from different states would adorn the 10-day-long Nabard Haat, to be hosted at Sinha Library grounds from Friday.

Products made by rural artisans from Manipur, Assam, Bengal, Rajasthan and Bihar would give residents of the capital a wide range of items to choose from. Hundred stalls would be put up at the event.

Cane furniture from Assam and Manipur to puppets from Rajasthan, the fair would bring them all on a single platform. Closer home, Madhubani painting and jute products would be displayed.

Five non-government organisations — Nai Dharti, Dreams, Creative Vision Society, Lok Swarajya Sangha and Gramvasini Bharatmata — will organise the event. Nabard will sponsor the fair.

“The fair will provide a marketing platform to rural artisans, entrepreneurs, self-help groups and farmers’ clubs. Experts will demonstrate various marketing skills needed for selling the products,” said Nai Dharti secretary Nandita Banerjee.

Nukkad natak (street plays) on socially relevant themes would be performed every day from 5pm.

Agriculture minister Narendra Singh will inaugurate the fair. Industries department principal secretary C.K. Mishra will be the chief guest.
