Senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi's weekly janata durbar had an unusual visitor on Tuesday - a teary-eyed former RJD leader, Sanoj Yadav.

He had come to narrate his woes. Sanoj told Modi that RJD chief Lalu Prasad's elder son and health minister Tej Pratap Yadav had humiliated him on June 23, the day Lalu threw an iftar party. "Tej Pratapji not only abused me but also assaulted me in front of Lalu ji, who remained silent," Sanoj claimed. He said he had come to Modi because he wanted to join the BJP, as the RJD had no inner democracy and there was no respect left for committed workers of the party.

Asked to explain why he didn't lodge a police complaint and was trying to give a political colour to the incident, Sanoj said: "I am a political person and would seek justice for my humiliation in the court of people."

He said Sushil Modi gave him a call on hearing of the June 23 incident. He showed concern for him. Asked if the BJP would take Sanoj, who is active in Danapur region of Patna, into its fold, Modi said: "I haven't discussed these things with Sanoj ji yet."

Terming his act a drama, RJD state unit president Ramchandra Purbey said Sanoj, who was a member of the party's state executive, had already been dismissed from the party for indiscipline. "Sanoj misbehaved with me at a meeting of party workers on June 22 to discuss work to be assigned to different persons for the iftar party," Purbey said. "At that time I ignored it and assigned him some work. When he reached 10 Circular Rod on June 23, Tej Pratapji just asked him to behave properly with me. Sanoj immediately walked out from there and contacted some TV channels, who then began airing his version."

The RJD president said Sanoj was in the habit of misbehaving with senior leaders and that is why the party took the stern measure of dismissing him from the party at one go.
