Come August 17, the best brains, who cracked the Common Admission Test (CAT), would head to classes at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Bodhgaya for the 2015-16 academic session.
The admission process is ot. In the first session, 60 students would get admission.
IIM-Calcutta, which is the mentor institute of IIM-Bodhgaya, has started counselling of successful CAT candidates on its Calcutta campus, which has to be completed by August 7. After the counselling is over, the final list of students willing to study at IIM-Bodhgaya would be prepared by IIM-Calcutta.
Officials from IIM-Calcutta and the state government visited Magadh University (MU) campus on Friday to assess its readiness to begin the classes. The officials, including nodal officer of IIM-Bodhgaya Shivesh Ranjan, the nodal officer and the state officer of IIM-Calcutta, Mahesh Patnair, and A. Das respectively conducted the inspection of the directorate of distance education building, where the classes are to be held on the first floor, hostel number VI and the guesthouse on the campus of the Magadh University.
Faculty members of the business school would stay at the MU guesthouse and the male students would be accommodated in hostel number VI. The girls would be accommodated in the newly constructed hostel for them from funds provided by the University Grants Commission.
Shivesh Ranjan confirmed that August 17 had been fixed as the tentative date for starting the classes from the first floor of directorate of distance education building. "We have also provided Rs 7.69 crore to the Magadh University that includes Rs 3.62 crore for the construction of a new building of the directorate of distance education and Rs 70 lakh for its fencing," said the nodal officer of IIM-Bodhgaya.
"Apart from this, Rs 1.82 crore to complete the second floor of the existing directorate of distance education building and Rs 1.23 crore already spent on the renovation of hostel number VI has also been made available. The team today (Friday) conducted an inspection of the directorate of distance education building to assess its readiness. The building would be ready by August 10," Ranjan said.
The visiting officials asked the university authorities to extend their help in arranging computers, furniture, almirahs and other necessary requirements.
The campus, where the management classes would be held and the hostel would be equipped with Wifi connectivity. IIM-Calcutta would provide funds to make available the requirements of the IIM-Bodhgaya campus.
The land issue for setting up the IIM-Bodhgaya had been sorted out with Magadh University in May this year with a fresh map earmarking over 118 acres for the business school.
