Patna, May 26: A Maoist, identified as Krishna Mochi alias Kameshwar Mochi alias Kamalkant Jee, was arrested at Madhwa village under Paliganj police station on Friday late evening.

Patna superintendent of police (rural) Manoj Kumar said the arrest was on the basis of a tip-off.

“The police received information that Krishna and some of his associates were at the village to collect levy from some contractors. A team, comprising police and Special Task Force was formed and a raid was conducted. His associates, however managed to flee,” the officer said.

During interrogations, Krishna admitted that he was a zonal commander of the north zone of Magadh range.

A bag containing Rs 68,000, Naxalite literature and other documents was found on Krishna, the officer said.

The police said the man is a resident of Gopalpur village under Bikram police station of Patna.

He added that Krishna has many cases lodged against him at Bhagwanganj, Masauri, Sigori, Paliganj and Naubatpur police station areas of Patna district.
