Patna: A 13-year-old was allegedly kidnapped from Supaul on Wednesday after she refused to withdraw a case of rape lodged against the accused earlier.
The girl's family reported the incident to the Chhatapur police station in Supaul on Thursday alleging that Govind Ram and his associates kidnapped the minor girl from her house on Wednesday evening.
She was alone in her house at the time of the incident. The police immediately swung into action and arrested Rambali's three relatives from Sohta village and sent her to jail on Thursday.
However, Rambali and his associates were still at large.
The girl's mother, a daily wager, told the police that Rambali was pressuring him to withdraw the case pertaining to the rape of the girl on March 13 last year.
"When we didn't succumb to their pressure, they abducted my daughter," the girl's mother told to the police.
The station house officer (SHO) of Chhatapur police station Rajiv Kumar Jha said on Thursday that three persons, including Rambali's father, mother and his sister, were arrested on Wednesday night and produced in the local court on Thursday. The court remanded the trio to 14-day judicial custody.
He said an FIR was earlier lodged with the woman police station in March in which the girl accused her neighbour of raping her in the house when she was alone. Her parents had gone to the fields when the crime took place.
During investigation it came to the fore that the girl and the 20-year-old neighbour had agreed to marry after the complaint was lodged with the local police station.
However, a difference between the two families cropped up over demand of dowry.
The SHO said raids were underway to recover the girl and nab the remaining accused.
Earlier, the matter was taken up at the meeting of the local panchayat but in vain. A case of kidnapping was lodged with the Chhatapur police station on the statement of the girl's mother.
In another related incident, an unwed mother staged a sit-in agitation in front of the office of the Begusarai superintendent of police to press the police to register a case of sexual exploitation against the son of a police official.
She alleged that a sub-inspector's son sexually assaulted her following which she conceived and gave birth to a child. The accused is said to be a resident of Teghra police station area in Begusarai.
