Patna: Former chief minister Rabri Devi has written another letter to chief minister Nitish Kumar demanding clear specification over the security provided to her.

Rabri stressed that she had nothing to do with her husband's security because he is in judicial custody. However, she demanded clear-cut specification over the security provided to her in the two-page letter written in Hindi.

"Under the Special Security Act, there is a provision to provide Z+ security to former chief ministers and according to that, I am entitled to Z+ security. It is fine that my husband's security has been withdrawn but where is my security? Since 2016, the Union home ministry provided me Z+ security and accordingly instructed the state government but it did not provide the infrastructure for the Z+ security," Rabri wrote in the letter.

She further wrote that though two former chief ministers stayed in a single house regarding which the family does not have any problem but both are entitled to two separate sets of Z+ security.

"My husband's Z+ security has been withdrawn but where is my Z+ security? I want the full details of my security like how many security personnel, escort party, pilot, static security, bodyguards and vehicles are provided to me. I also want justification over the withdrawal of security from my residence on April 10 midnight. I want to know that on whose instruction the security was withdrawn," Rabri said in the letter.

She also asked that under what circumstances her security was cut from time to time without any prior notice. Rabri termed the withdrawal of security on April 10 midnight "very disappointing".

But Nitish ordered the restoration of security at 10, Circular Road residence, on April 12 itself, seeking clarification from the home department that under what circumstances the lifetime security provided to the former chief minister was withdrawn. Till now, the department, which comes under Nitish himself, has not come out with any justification.

"I have received a letter from the Bihar Military Police (BMP)-2 on April 12 in which it is mentioned that the security was withdrawn by mistake. I want to know as to whose mistake it was and who gave the order to withdraw security. Are you (read Nitish Kumar) aware of the security issues or you were kept in the dark?" Rabri said.

She also alleged that top police officers of the home department did not pick up phone calls from neither Rabri Devi nor the Leader Of Opposition, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, by mistake. She asked what they will do in a case of emergency as the police officers did not pick up the phone.

She also demanded a separate security for her elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, saying that he was not only an MLA and former health minister but also the son of two former chief ministers. Rabri said the state government must fix the security category for Tej Pratap.

At the end, she once again wrote that if any untoward incident happens with her family, the home department minister will be solely responsible.
