Patna: The process of starting a trauma centre at the city's Loknayak Jayprakash Narayan Hospital has been expedited with the state government notifying 123 posts for the upcoming trauma centre.
As part of the plan, the present hospital would be upgraded into a modern super-speciality hospital for orthopaedic disorders and equipped with a trauma and emergency wing along with 400 bed indoor wing (IPD), outpatient department and other facilities. The expected expenditure of the project is around Rs 200 crore.
The existing G+1 and G+2 building of the hospital would remain as it is while a new G+ 6 and G+2 building would come up on the campus for starting trauma and emergency wing and IPD respectively.
The tender for selecting an agency to construct trauma and emergency building would be floated within a week while the DPR related to the 400-bed IPD is now going to be sent to higher authorities for getting final approval after which tenders would be floated to award work for construction of IPD building, said a senior health department official wishing anonymity.
The Noida-based Design Associates Inc has made the DPR of both the trauma and emergency building and the building that would house the indoor wing. The official said that if tender process goes without any glitch, the work order was expected to be issued just after Dussehra (in October).
"However, it all depends whether parties shows interest in the project and technical and financial bids are completed successfully," he said.
"In the first phase of the project, the trauma and emergency wing would be ready," the official said.
