Patna: Patna University's grievance cell probing the degree of students union vice-president Yoshita Patwardhan has issued a notice, asking why her candidature should not be cancelled.
The cell, headed by Patna University's dean students welfare N.K. Jha, has found that while submitting applications to the post of vice-president, Patna University Students' Union, Magadh Mahila College student Yoshita had concealed the information that she had failed a semester in 2016-17. The election was held in February.
According to Patna University Students' Union election guidelines, framed according to the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations, a student who has failed in any year or semester is debarred from contesting the polls.
Dean Jha said: "We have submitted the report to the vice-chancellor (Rash Bihari Prasad Singh), now she will have to appear before him, and he will take the final decision on cancellation of her candidature."
