Patna, Feb. 13: The state government is working on a policy to set up private industrial parks to reduce land troubles for investors.

Industries department principal secretary Naveen Verma said preparations of the draft policy was in its last leg and the same would be presented before the representatives of industry associations on February 25. “We welcome their suggestions, which, if found feasible, will be included in the draft,” he added.

Once done, the draft policy will be presented before the cabinet for approval. “The department is serious to set up private industrial parks in the state. The policy will deal with all the relevant areas. It will also have a detailed account on the grants to be offered to the investors. The idea of the private industrial parks will play an important part towards solving the land scarcity issues,” he said.

Verma said the subsidy given to the investors would differ as it would be based on the total area of the land. “Though a lot of things cannot be divulged at present, the department plans to provide subsidies to those who take up such lands. The subsidy will be linked to the size of the land. The reason behind the department thinking seriously is that there are people who want to give away their land for industrial purposes. Though at present, a definite timeframe cannot be given, in another couple of months, we can send the policy to the cabinet for approval,” he added.

In fact, the private industrial zone can start from Patna itself with the department eyeing on a 30-acre wetland in Mokama, some 100km from the city. Sources said a group of landowners from Mokama was ready to provide the land for setting up of a private industrial park. “All of them were owners of a 30-acre plot, which is a wetland and they expressed the idea of allowing industries to be set up,” another department official said.
