Ahead of the monsoon, two key roads in the city will get a fresh coat of bitumen with proper realignment to avert waterlogging.
Road construction department minister Nand Kishore Yadav on Sunday laid the foundation stone for revamping the roads — linking Baripath with Ashok Rajpath touching Khetan Market and the stretch between Nala Road and Rajendra Nagar via Prithvi Rajpath in East Lohanipur — at a cost of almost Rs 5 crore. While Rs 1.7 crore will be spent on the 590m road touching Khetan Market, at least Rs 3.23 crore has been earmarked for the 1.1km stretch in East Lohanipur. The project will kick off next month.
“The Khetan Market road will take six months to complete and the East Lohanipur one nine months. It would have got completed earlier but will take longer because of the monsoon,” said Yadav.
“The entire sewage disposal system in the two areas will also see a complete overhaul,” the minister said.
