Power engineers and employees have threatened to go on an indefinite strike after December 15 across the state if their demands are not met in the next 15 days.
The decision to this affect was taken at a meeting of Vidyut Kamgar, Padadhikari, Abhiyanta Sanyukta Sangharsh Morcha — a conglomerate of various unions of power engineers and employees.
Bhola Prasad of Bihar Power Workers’ Union charged both the power companies and the state government of not fulfilling agreement between morcha, the government and the companies.
Power Engineering Service Association, a constituent of Sangharsh Morcha, general secretary, Ashwini Kumar said a meeting would be held on November 25 to take a decision on the exact date from when the power employees will go on the strike.
Earlier this year, the power employees had deferred their proposed indefinite strike, which was scheduled to start from February 18, 2014, after the government assured them that it will look into their grievances.
Some of their demands are power company management should be run by professionals instead of IAS officers, engineers should not report to district magistrates, non-appointment of distribution franchisees, regularisation of services of contract engineers among others.
