Residents can now access documents confined to the tables of Patna Municipal Corporation officials on the civic body’s website.
The civic body recently launched a sub-portal, edak.patnanagarnigam.in. Residents can access most documents going in and out of the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) there.
As of Monday evening, 403 letters had been uploaded on the portal. Sources said barring confidential files, all letters and documents will be available on the portal.
Through the e-dak service, residents can track where their letters and applications have reached.
“As soon as a person files an application with the PMC, he/she would be given a case number. The person can use the number to find which officer has his/her letter or where the application is lying at a particular time. We would also be able to avoid unnecessary delay in moving files among different officers,” said PMC commissioner Kuldip Narayan at a news meet on Monday.
The residents can track the progress of development schemes initiated in the different wards.
Narayan added that PMC officers have been appointed to look after preparations at the different ghats ahead of Chhath.
“All works related to constructing temporary railings and developing temporary ponds at the ghats would be completed by November 6.” said Narayan.
In fact, the e-dak portal shows a letter issued by the municipal commissioner to the Patna district magistrate on October 25 on plans for the development of the ghats.
The civic body, Chhath Puja samitis and several private firms and public sector undertakings will look after the work on sanitation and maintenance of approach roads to the different ghats.
The PMC has floated tenders for the development of the ghats. The work is expected to start by the end of this week. The district administration is expected to declare the list of safe and dangerous ghats within 48 hours.
Narayan added that mass hearings would be held against unauthorised buildings under the PMC’s scanner on November 15 and 16.
