The grand Congress-RJD-JDU alliance has made silk city’s election turf interesting.

AICC general secretary and party’s Bihar in-charge C.P. Joshi said the new combination would prove to be a turning point for Indian politics. He believed it would be able to counter BJP’s move to “whip up communal passions”.

Joshi, who shared the dais with Nitish Kumar at a poll meeting on Wednesday, admitted the Congress would try to restore its support base in Bihar, which has the potential to influence national politics.

Nitish claimed Bihar would set an example of value-based politics, unlike the BJP’s pseudo approach to win voters with false claims. He hoped that ancient learning sites like Vikramshila or Nalanda, which were under renovation thanks to the JDU government’s initiative, would soon reflect positive aspects of life and politics for the entire nation.

Joshi said the BJP managed to capture the mandate by projecting the Gujarat model and Narendra Modi’s marketing strategy. He said that before the Lok Sabha polls, Modi had projected himself as a super hero who could change the nation’s fate but even three months since becoming Prime Minister, he has failed to take any positive steps.

Nitish, who addressed a rally in Nathnagar, said: “We prefer the betterment of a vast section of society, without any caste or creed barrier, but the BJP has been concentrating on the welfare of limited people, mainly corporate houses in the country.”

BJP national spokesperson and former MP Shahnawaz Hussain, said: “Nitish was chief minister for eight years. Why did he not notice Bhagalpur’s problems all these days?” He said when the ruling party’s chief minister had accepted corruption in the state, JDU leaders should not criticise opponents.
