Patna: Police are yet to make any arrests in the murder of Wakil Ahmad at the Dariyapur area on Saturday despite a time lapse of 24 hours.
Wakil, 30, was hacked to death by criminals at Dariyapur under the Pirbahore police station area. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when the area was buzzing with activities. Also the crime spot is less than a kilometre away from Pirbahore police station.
Patna superintendent of police (SP), central, D Amarkesh said: "Based on CCTV footage, the police have gathered some leads. The eyewitness in the incident has also provided some clues about the assailants who were involved in murder of Wakil."
Sources said a rivalry between Wakil and a gang was the reason behind the murder. In September last year, Wakil, a resident of Alamganj in Patna City, was involved in hurling bombs at a shop in Fakirbada in Kankerbagh and was also involved in the murder of Irfan Alam.
Pirbahore police station house officer Gulam Sarwar claimed they had got some leads and were conducting raids.
A resident said: "Around 3pm we heard a noise. Three men were attacking a man with a sharp-edged weapon. After hacking the man to death, they ran towards Dariyapur."
