Sri Krishna Puri police have failed to make any progress in the investigation of the extortion case lodged against Anant Kumar Singh, the controversial JD(U) MLA from Mokama.
A case was lodged by Tarun Singh, a building developer of Patliputra Colony, on Tuesday accusing Singh and his four associates of demanding huge money as extortion from him. Tarun, whose office is located on Boring Canal road, also apprehended threat to his life from the MLA.
Sri Krishna Puri police station house officer (SHO) Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar said the allegations against the ruling party legislator were being verified.
“A separate team has been set up to deal with the complaint against the high profile accused,” he said, adding that action would be initiated on the basis of evidences against the accused.
Vidyasagar, however, refused to share more information on the pretext of the case being under investigation.
“Senior police officers are monitoring development in the case. The investigating officer in the case is waiting for the instructions from the senior officers, who are supposed to supervise the case,” he added.
This is not an isolated incident when the two-term legislator from Mokama has been made a named accused in a criminal case.
He had earlier hogged the limelight for allegedly trying to encroach a portion of land meant for a park in the upscale Patliputra Colony.
