Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) will work on a list of tasks titled Project Phoenix - that aim to revolutionise the civic works - over a period of time.
Urban planners will be hired to execute the project. An IT cell will also be set up to work as a combat cell. The project entails crowd-sourcing for solid waste management work, creation of new modular toilets and maintenance of existing ones among others.
PMC deputy municipal commissioner Vishal Anand said Project Phoenix had been chalked out by the new municipal commissioner Anupam Kumar Suman in which he had fixed emergent and institutional goals.
"Basically Project Phoenix is a framework under which we will work. You can say that the civic body's priorities had been fixed under this project," said Anand.
"As part of the emergent work, an IT combat cell would be created to make the corporation tech-savvy and to maintain the sanctity of pavements. PMC will also ensure paver blocks on footpath and also between the road and the footpath. Gulmohar and amaltas will be planted on the road sides. Conducting regular anti-encroachment drive and rehabilitating small vendors and urban poor and demarcating vendor zones and other initiatives will be focused upon," said Anand.
Talking about institutional goals fixed under the project, he added: "The Aadhaar identification for introducing biometric attendance for all workers is one of the institutional goals fixed under the project. Global positioning system (GPS) will be introduced for all vehicles engaged in solid waste management work. Besides, urban planners will be hired and GPS unique ID for each property and holding under PMC will be created. Regular double entry accounting and internal audit and zero tolerance against corruption has also been kept as a part of the institutional goals."
