Patna: Patna municipal commissioner Anupam Kumar Suman on Saturday said he was not satisfied with de-silting related work being done so far in various wards of the corporation and said that an inquiry would be set up to find out irregularities in the work and cases would be lodged against people found at fault.
A decision regarding audit of the de-silting works worth around Rs 7.5 crore this year this year has already been taken in the standing committee meeting of PMC on June 26. As per the decision, auditors would be hired by the corporation to check de-silting work carried out.
The PMC commissioner also said that if required the de-silting drive would be conducted once again in the wards if found that work had not been carried out properly.
Suman was also critical of the way of functioning of the corporation and he accepted that the corporation had so far failed in getting desired results.
He also talked about illegal hoarding scattered in various nook and corners of the state capital.
He said all illegal hoardings would be removed soon by the corporation. "We had discussions with advertisement agencies and they have been issued instructions to remove the hoardings," he said.
In the general board meeting of the corporation on Saturday, among the various proposals that got approved was converting all the leasehold properties of Patna Regional Development Authority (PRDA) into freehold property.
"While some ward councillors had asked for bringing the norm for owners of leasehold properties of PRDA to pay 10 per cent of the current price of the properties to become sole owner of the property, finally the board approved the proposal of paying 25 per cent of the current price of the property for becoming sole owner of the property," said a ward councillor.
The proposal of extending the benefits of the Seventh Pay Commission to PMC workers was also approved in Saturday's meeting.
Other proposals which also got approval in the meeting include regularisation of the services of PMC workers who are working for more than 10 years and purchase of corporation related instruments from the Centre's e-marketplace (GeM) portal.
All these decisions were earlier approved in the standing committee meeting and were further put forward into the general board meeting for a final approval.
Mayor versus deputy
After the general board meeting, deputy mayor Vinay Kumar Pappu said mayor Sita Sahu was not serious about civic work and many of the works were in the doldrums due to this.
Pappu said this after some electronic media asked him about unfinished civic work. Pappu also claimed that mayor Sahu usually didn't discuss corporation meeting agendas with him prior to the meeting.
Sources said this was not the first time when Pappu vent his ire against Sahu. He has been vocal against Sahu earlier as well.
