Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar on August 26 to do an aerial survey of flood-affected areas.

Earlier on Monday, deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi had told journalists: "I have requested him to visit Bihar himself and he has accepted it." Sushil had gone to New Delhi to attend a meeting of BJP chief ministers and deputy chief ministers that the Prime Minister had called. "I've also asked chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of other states to help Bihar," he said.

Sushil said the Prime Minister stressed on digital use by BJP chief ministers and deputy chief ministers during the meeting on Monday. "He asked us to use government e-marketing application for purchase of goods by government," Modi said. "Supposing the government wants 100 pieces of a certain item. It can be put in the application with specifications and suppliers can make an offer. Even payment can be done online after supply. This would lead to transparency and competition among suppliers." He said the Prime Minister was stressing on digital payment to beneficiaries of government schemes through Aadhaar-linked Jan Dhan Yojana.

He said the Prime Minister proposes to hold meetings of BJP chief ministers and deputy chief ministers once every three months to review progress of development programmes in BJP-ruled states. "The Prime Minister will also make efforts to find solutions to projects that are pending for long because of differences between the state and the Centre," Sushil said.
