Muzaffarpur, Sept. 13: District police have cancelled the medical test of constables carried out at the Government Sadar Hospital on September 1 after anomalies were detected in the recruitment drive of the constables.
The district police got vital clues of alleged irregularities in the medical test of the constables. Two constables Pardip Kumar Singh and Bhushan Jha have been arrested and taken to Khudiram Bose Central Jail in this connection.
The police seized Rs 1.27 lakh from the possession of Pardip, allegedly collected from constables in the name of medical tests.
Talking to The Telegraph, the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Muzaffarpur, Rajesh Kumar, said the district police have decided to conduct fresh medical tests of the newly recruited 103 constables. This time, the medical test will be conducted at Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH). The SSP said he has written a letter to the superintendent of SKMCH, Dr G.K. Thakur, to constitute a medical board consisting of doctors for conducting the medical test of the constables.
The SSP said two police officers — superintendent of police (city) Manoj Kumar and deputy superintendent of police (headquarters) Manish Kumar — would also be a part of the medical board. The SSP also requested Thakur to shhot the entire medical test on video for complete transparency. Nine constables out of 103 were declared unfit on September 1 when they had undergone a medical test at the Government Sadar Hospital.
The “unfit” persons met the SSP and accused two constables — Pardip and Bhushan — of demanding money for granting favour during the medical test. But according to the nine persons, they refused to oblige the duo and were declared unfit, the SSP said.
The SSP added that Pardip, at present working as a bodyguard of an MLA, and Bhushan, a clerk in the Sadar police station have been suspended.
On the other hand, the district police have decided to tighten the noose around the five doctors of Sadar hospital who conducted the medical test on September 1. If the doctors are found guilty, then the police would lodge FIRs against them, said SP Manoj Kumar.
