Rugby tournament
The Indian Rugby Football Union, in association with Société Générale, one of the largest European financial services groups and Rugby Football Association of Bihar, hosted the Société Générale Senior National Rugby Sevens Championship, 2016, at Patliputra Stadium from August 5-7.
A total of 19 states and affiliated units from Maharashtra, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Bengal, Odisha, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, Services Sports Control Board and CRPF participated. In the men's category, Services Sports Control Board was the winner while Haryana and Bengal was adjudged first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively. In the women's category, Odisha emerged winner, whuile Maharashtra and Bengal came second and third, respectively.
Sawan fest
The Ladies Wing of Punjabi Bradri celebrated Sawan Mela at Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Hall on Sunday. Fifteen stalls had been set up, which included games for kids, home furnishing items, dresses, handmade jewelleries and rakhis, herbal beauty and fitness stall and food stalls.
Children and women performed on various monsoon songs. Competitions were held. The chief guest of the event was president of Private School and Welfare Association Shamael Ahmad who congratulated the Punjabi Bradari on holding a successful Sawan Mela.
Table tennis
Sakait Das of St Michael's High School and Shristi Ranjan of Loyola High School bagged the most promising players trophy at the 15th Brother John De Monfort Memorial Inter-School Table Tennis Tournament. The tournament was hosted by Loyola High School on Sunday and more than 20 schools from Bihar took part. The chief guest of the event was retired IAS officer KP Ramadan and the guest of honour was St Xavier's College principal Father T. Nishaant.
