Disaster training
A three-day training programme on post-disaster needs assessment tools for India jointly organised by National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), New Delhi, and Bihar State Disaster Management Authority (BSDMA) concluded at the BSDMA office on Wednesday. The training programme was inaugurated by BSDMA vice-chairman Anil Kumar Sinha. Experts from Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC), Bangkok, delivered a speech to participants.
The team from ADPC included Emmanuel Torrente, Thitiphon Sinsupan, Aslam Pervaiz, Sudhir Kumar and Tarique. "People affected by disasters need to be supplied with emergency relief materials according to their need. In addition, there is also a need to assess short, medium and long-term needs for recovery and rehabilitation of disaster affected population."
Blood camp awareness
An awareness programme on importance of blood donation-cum-certificate distribution to blood donors was organised by Lions Club Patna at National Institute of Fashion and Technology on Wednesday.
Subodh Kumar Sinha, a doctor from Mahavir Cancer Sansthan, gave a presentation on blood donation to the students. A blood donation camp was organised earlier in which 102 students donated their blood and certificates were distributed. Around 30 blood donor students were selected by lottery and they were given a chance to watch a film. The chief guests of the programme were retired judge Justice S.K. Sharma, NIFT director Sanjay Srivastav and orthopaedic surgeon Amulya Singh.
