Around 120 students of classes VII and VIII participated in a no-horn campaign at Notre Dame Academy on Friday.
"The campaign is aimed at stopping unnecessary honking on the roads, especially outside schools," said Alvia Aslam, the co-ordinator of Students' Oxygen Movement, which organised the campaign.
"People will not listen to us but they will definitely listen to children," she added.
The campaign is organised every year since 2011.
"It really disturbs us while we are studying. People honk unnecessarily and we must take action," said Adila, a student of Class VII.
Mothers' Day
Tender Hearts International School on Friday organised a function for Mothers' Day in which the students planned a number of activities. Pre-school to Class II students took part in the event.
"The children prepared cards and photo frames as tokens of appreciation for their mothers," said Rajiv Bhargav, the school director.
Suman, mother of three-year-old Samriddi, said: "My daughter wished me for the first time today (Friday). It was one of the happiest moments of my life."
Music show
The alumni association of Mount Carmel High School organised an inter-school vocal music competition on Friday. Nine schools, including Litera Valley, St Joseph's Convent High School and Radiant International School, took part in the ghazal and bhajan competitions.
Utsav Shrey of Delhi Public School bagged the first prize for bhajan while Harishta of Litera Valley and Pragya of Radiant International School got the second and third prizes, respectively. For ghazal, Apurva Upadhyay of St Joseph's Convent High School bagged the first prize. Kundan of Don Bosco Academy and Sneha of Radiant International came second and third, respectively.
Cooking contest
Montessori School organised a cooking contest for mothers to mark Mothers' Day on Friday.
The mothers displayed their culinary skills through preparations like biryani and litti-chokha.
Sandhya and Anjana bagged the awards of best mothers. Nilu and Pinky were awarded for being the best cooks.
