M visit signalfter inviting Nitish Kumar to his Jehanabad home, a retired friend of the chief minister wondered how would he ascertain if his VIP pal would visit him. An official gave him a simple solution. If you see the roads of the town being levelled, the drains being cleaned and garbage being carted away, rest assured the chief minister would come soon. But if you see limestone being sprinkled along the roads, get ready to welcome him within a couple of days. It means the district officials did not find enough time to do the other things,” the official told the chief minister’s friend. In fact, Nitish himself reportedly joked about this. “One thing Nitish does not know is that citizens in districts other than Patna eagerly await his night stay because the power supply improves suddenly,” said another official.Futuristic’ photographshen former Congress leader-turned-JD(U) MLA Gajendra Shahi went to the chief minister’s chamber recently, few MLAs declared that Shahi still had the photographs of former Prime Minster Indira Gandhi and that of her son Rajiv Gandhi in his drawing room. “Gajendra was in the Congress for a long time but he became an MLA after he joined the JD(U),” said one of the JD(U) MLAs. Shahi declared that he had a photograph of Nitish Kumar also. “But that is smaller,” the JD(U) MLA said, putting Munna in an embarrassing situation. “The JD(U) MLAs love to run down each other before the chief minister,” said a senior party leader. “Given that the JD(U) is apparently getting closer to the Congress, keeping photos of Rajiv and Indira might not be a bad idea,” he added.eet gain of Dal section of the JD(U) leaders are a happy lot after the investors’ meet organised recently in Patna by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Nope, it has nothing to do with investments in the state. “Organisations representing the industry and the trade appear to be busy in organising shows for the prime ministerial candidates. CII organised an event for Rahul Gandhi. Ficci held one for Narendra Modi. At least PHD organised a programme for our chief minister Nitish Kumar,” said a JD(U) leader. His BJP friend said had it been held in New Delhi, Nitish would have been seen as a prime ministerial candidate. “But as it was held in Patna, he would remain a chief ministerial candidate for the future,” the BJP leader stressed.JD’s Mahadalit panghe RJD criticised chief minister Nitish Kumar for coining the term “Mahadalit”, alleging that he was creating fissures in the unity of the downtrodden sections of the society for political gains. When the same party organised a Mahadalits’ meeting on Monday, the JD(U) leaders were jubilant. They claimed that the RJD chief, Lalu Prasad, accepted Nitish’s perception of Mahadalits in the state by organising the event. A senior leader of the RJD said: “There is an adage that if you cannot beat them, join them. The party has just followed that.”
