Patna, June 28: Class X passouts can finally look forward to a new academic session. Most schools have completed their admission procedure and would soon commence classes. The admissions, however, in some schools are still on.

O.P. Singh, the vice-principal of Patna Central School, said: “The admissions are closed in our school and classes would begin on July 1.” The school has science and commerce streams with 600 seats.

D.K. Ghosh, the principal of DAV Khagaul, said: “The results of the admission tests have been declared on June 27 and admissions have started from today. Admissions will continue till July 6 and classes would commence on July 7. There are around 400 seats in science and commerce streams in our school.”

Students and their parents are waiting for classes to start in respective schools. For students, it’s time to look ahead and plan a career. For parents, it’s a tough time for them too.

Rashmi, who has secured admission in a renowned school in the city, said: “I have got admission in a reputed school and all I need to do is concentrate on my studies. A few friends of mine are still struggling for admissions, therefore I feel I am fortunate to get admission in a good school in Patna.”

Ashok Kumar, who got his daughter admitted to Patna Central School, is busy these days giving tips to his child. Ashok said: “I want to see my daughter become an engineer and only hard work is the mantra. I keep telling her that she should be giving priority to her studies. This is the time when one should be concentrating only on studies. Other things in life can be pursued after one achieves something great.”

Meanwhile, classes have started in some of the schools. Sources said that classes have begun at St Michael’s High School from June 23. A few seats are yet to be filled but it is only for those who took the CBSE this year. On the other hand, Gyan Niketan has finished the admission process and classes have begun today. Loyola High School has finished the admissions but would start classes from July 1. The school has science and commerce streams.

A few students who took CBSE/ICSE board examinations this year feel that taking admissions in government schools would give them more time to prepare for competitive examinations. Preeti Vani, a CBSE passout, said she has taken admission in Ravindra Balika Uchya Vidyalaya for the same reason. Classes would start on July 18 Ravindra Balika Uchya Vidyalaya.
