Patna, Nov. 11: Buddhism got a new dimension through paintings at an art camp organised by art, culture and youth affairs department at Bharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir.
Around 25 national-level artists, who took part in the seven-day art camp that ended today, tried to portray different aspects of Lord Buddha and Buddhism. Meditating images of Buddha, the Lord leaving his footprints in Bodhgaya, monks praying in his land were some of the many paintings on display at the camp.
The art, culture and youth affairs department had arranged a two-day trip to Rajgir, Nalanda, Bodhgaya and Pawapuri for all the participating artists.
Artists S.N. Pranam, Surendra Jagtap, Manas Ranjan Raina, Jeva Hasan and S.N. Lahiri were the five artists who came from other states to the art camp. Shyam Sharma, former principal of College of Arts and Crafts, also participated in the camp.
Sources said the criteria for participation in the camp was that all participants must have national-level recognition and has also exhibited their paintings in Rashtriya Lalit Kala Academy at least once.
The artists said the experience of being in Patna was wonderful. “It was a great experience. When I got the invitation to participate in the camp, I was really excited,” Lahiri said.
