Bhubaneswar: The Congress and the BJP's simultaneous strike across Odisha to protest the government's failure to save the Kunduli gang-rape victim crippled the state on Wednesday.
There was hardly any public transport. People were stranded at the airport and train services were hit across the state. As many as 14 trains were stopped at various stations. The strike evoked tremendous response in the girl's home district of Koraput.
At Musaguda, the girl's village, people were mourning.
"She was depressed and had given up hope of getting justice," said Dharman Chati, a relative of the girl.
Maoists in the district also extended support to the strike.
