The cabinet on Tuesday gave clearance to the health department's proposal to set up a super-specialty hospital on the premises of Jai Prabha Hospital in Patna.
The cabinet chaired by chief minister Nitish Kumar decided to allot 7 acres of land to Medanta Hospital to set up the hospital on the campus of Jai Prabhat Hospital. It would be set up under public-private partnership mode.
After the meeting, principal cabinet secretary Shishir Sinha said the land would be provided to Medanta Hospital, one of the country's largest super-specialty hospital chains, on lease for 33 years. "The cabinet gave administrative sanction to the construction of the building and subsequently operate the hospital," he added.
The cabinet also gave a go-ahead to the health department's proposal to increase the amount for providing snacks and food to indoor patients admitted to government-run hospitals from existing Rs 50 per patient daily to Rs 100. The cabinet sanctioned Rs 71.18 crore for the purpose.
The cabinet also decided to set up a degree college at Nauhatta in Rohtas under special circumstances.
