Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday came out in full support of the Centre's surgical strikes in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and advised people not to indulge in politics on terrorism.
On the sidelines of a function at Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park in Patna to kick off Wildlife Week, Nitish was reacting to mediapersons' queries on Sunday night's militant attack on an army camp in Jammu and Kashmir.
"There should be no politics on the issue of terrorism. Everybody knows that such elements (read terrorists) are present and the central government is taking all necessary steps to tackle them. The entire country is united over the issue," Nitish said.
He advised people not to worry over militant attacks and said it was not possible that such incidents will immediately stop after the surgical strike.
"Instead of worrying over action on the border, people should always remain cautious (against terrorism). The Centre decided on the surgical strike and it was successful. Our army and paramilitary forces are fully capable of tackling such situations. The need is not to worry (about terror), but to tackle it," he added.
Earlier, Nitish said the average rainfall in Bihar used to be between 1200mm and 1500mm and monsoon used to enter the state between June 5 and 12. But all that had changed and barring three years, Bihar had not got even 1,000mm rain over the past 11 years.
He had added that it was the outcome of ecological imbalance and people damaging nature, including wildlife.
Rooting for steps to increase awareness towards environment and wildlife, Nitish mentioned that the state government had started Hariyali Mission or green mission in 2012 with an aim to plant 24 crore saplings and raise the green cover in Bihar from nine per cent to 15 per cent.
The chief minister also inaugurated an education centre at the biological park in presence of environment and forests department minister Tej Pratap Yadav and principal secretary Vivek Kumar Singh.
He also inaugurated a new building to serve as the headquarters of Bihar State Pollution Control Board.
