Patna, Nov. 20: Neetu Chandra’s visit to the chief minister’s janata darbar has been well rewarded. For, Nitish Kumar turned up to watch Neetu’s film Deswa at Regent this evening.

After the show Nitish was all praises for the film. “There is no vulgarity in Deswa. The actors have performed to the best of their ability,” he said.

The storyline of the film — dealing with the lives of three young men from the state during the years of Lalu-Rabri regime — also received praise from the chief minister.

“The film describes the scenario of the previous government very well,” said Nitish.

In the film, three young men are forced to enter the world of crime after all their efforts and ambitions are thwarted. Kranti Prakash Jha’s character in the film, a civil service-aspirant, comments that a chief minister who cannot even write her own name is governing the state. Another character who aspires for a government job but cannot get one because of red tape and corruption criticises the government for the bad roads and power condition in the state.

The protagonists of the film finally land up in jail. After spending several years behind bars, when they are finally released in 2005, they find the state has changed for the better. Incidentally, Nitish came to power that year.

This evening, he turned up to watch the film accompanied by tourism minister Sunil Kumar “Pintu”, district magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh, senior superintendent of police Alok Kumar, deputy inspector-general Vineet Vinayak, road construction department secretary Pratyay Amrit and other officials.

Neetu and her brother Nitin — also the director of the film — welcomed their guests and watched the show with the chief minister’s entourage.

In the interval, Nitish also interacted with the other actors of the film.

After the show, Neetu said: “I am very thankful to Nitishji for finding time in his busy schedule and turning up to watch my film.”

The actress had turned up at the chief minister’s janata darbar on November 14 to invite Nitish to a special screening of the film. It will release on November 25.
