Patna: A man and his wife were detained on Tuesday when they tried to encash a cheque of Rs 1.5 lakh at the Kankerbagh branch of Canara Bank. ources said the account was under surveillance.

Assets case

Patna: The argument on confiscation of disproportionate assets of former director-general of police Narain Mishra concluded at the special vigilance court in Patna on Tuesday. The verdict has been reserved till February 1.

Teacher test

Patna: A high court bench of Justice T. Meena Kumari on Tuesday directed petitioner Pawan Kumar Kushwaha to request the state government for a stay on the Teachers’ Eligibility Test on February 18.

Plea purged

Patna: A high court division bench of Justice Navaniti Prasad Singh and Justice A.K. Singh dismissed an appeal filed by the state government challenging a Begusarai court’s order acquitting former LJP MP Surajbhan Singh in Mokama contractor Dinesh Singh’s murder case.

Arrest

Patna: Four men, Mohammed Faiyaz, Panchanand Rai, Raj Gaurav and Mohammed Raja, were arrested on Tuesday near the Agamkuan Bridge in the Patna City. One countrymade pistol, four live cartridges, one car and a motorbike were recovered from them.

Pay stop

Patna: Patna University administration has stopped the salary of M.N. Sinha, a teacher of BN College, on charges of gross anomalies in examination fund in 2007-08.

Verdict

Lakhisarai: A fast track court on Tuesday awarded life term to seven persons in connection with a1993 kidnapping and murder case. The accused were found guilty of murdering Bakarganj resident Rajiv Kumar.
