Ammo haul in Gaya

Gaya: Police on Tuesday recovered several firearms and ammunition in a joint operation with Central Reserve Police Force personnel in the forest area of Kumbhi village after a tip-off about a Maoist meeting. everal senior Naxalites were present at the meeting, sources said. During the raids, the joint team recovered around 300kg explosives, 17 live cartridges of .31 bore, four can bombs, four cylinder bombs, some crude bombs and 50kg drum bomb.

Resignation

Patna: Former state minister Karuneshwar Singh on Tuesday resigned from the primary membership and the post of general secretary of the Nationalist Congress Party. In his resignation letter sent to the party president, Sharad Pawar, Singh cited personal reasons for the decision.

CM visit

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar will take part in a function in New Delhi on Sunday, as part of the centenary celebrations of Bihar, where he will felicitate 20 persons from the state.

Relief fund

Patna: Union Bank executive director S.S. Mundra handed over a cheque of Rs 11.36 lakh to chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday. The bank employees contributed the sum to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Bank trip

Patna: M.S. Raghavan, the executive director of Bank of India, will arrive in the state capital on Wednesday for two days during which he would meet senior state government officers and visit Bodhgaya for a credit disbursement camp.

Eye consult

Patna: Former director of Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, and world famous eye specialist Dr K. Ravishankar will be available at Mahavir Arogya Sansthan on March 25 and 26. A press note from Mahavir Arogya Sansthan on Tuesday said patients could consult the eye specialist about their problems by getting themselves registered.

Patna: Indian Institute of Business Management on Tuesday organised a seminar on global opportunities. Speaker Rajiv Tandon of Adayana, Minneapolis, USA, while addressing students, underlined the need of improvement in five areas — learning, assessment, teaching, infrastructure and productivity.
