Flights hit by fog

Patna: The fog in the morning and evening hit the schedule of flights on Friday. The first flight could land only at 1pm.oAir cancelled its Delhi-Patna-Delhi flight because of poor visibility in the morning. Jet Airways and Kingfisher had to cancel their evening Patna-Calcutta flights.

Security

Patna: Income Tax (I-T) department has sent a proposal to the central board of direct taxes to set up a permanent wing of air intelligence unit at the Jaiprakash Narayan International Airport in view of huge transit of gold, jewellery and cash, a senior I-T official told The Telegraph on Friday. The growth of the number of air passengers was the largest in Patna in 2010.

Helpline

Patna: Tata Docomo has launched a blood helpline service on text messages for its customers in Patna, Muzaffarpur and Bhagalpur. The service aims at helping in medical emergencies. Docomo chief operating officer, Bihar and Jharkhand, Akshay Mathur said they are confident the service will go a long way in offering support to their customers.

Plea

Patna: Bihar State Bar Council submitted a memorandum to the Patna High Court Chief Justice Rekha M. Doshit on Friday seeking the closure of the evening courts terming them as a wasteful expenditure of the public exchequer. Council chairman Baleshwar Prasad Sharma said the advocates may stay away from the lower courts in protest against misuse of fund in the name of evening courts.

Scholarship

Patna: Templeton Academy International, Nainital, has launched Manmohan Bihar Uday Scholarship, 2011, for meritorious students from the state. The scholarships would be given to students who secure more than 90 per cent, 85 per cent and 75 per cent marks in the entrance test.
