Man lynched for tree

Madhubani (PTI): One Jasodhar Yadav (35), resident of Rautania village under Phulparas police station, was lynched by a group of people, following a dispute over felling a tree in Madhubani district on Tuesday, superintendent of police Saurabh Kumar said. adav’s brother has filed an FIR against one Ram Kumar Yadav and four others for attacking Jasodhar with lathis, resulting in his death on the spot.

Arrest

Patna: The mastermind behind the murder of Rania Devi (31), identified as Vijay Mishra, was arrested in Darbhanga on Tuesday. Rania, wife of Yogendra Rai — a high court employee, was murdered on January 22 at her Adalatganj residence. A team of Patna police had gone to Darbhanga to investigate the matter.

Murder

Patna: Avinash Kumar (21), owner of a mobile shop, was shot dead by unidentified persons at Rajput Nagar area in Vaishali on Monday night. Avinash’s father Sambhu Saran Prasad is the district president of Bihar State Non-Gazetted Employees’ Federation.

Festival

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar said on Tuesday the celebrations for Bihar Divas would not be organised in the form of a government function. It would be celebrated like a festival. He made this announcement while reviewing the preparations to celebrate the festival. It is observed every year on March 22.

Padma

Patna: Two Biharis were selected for the fourth highest civilian awards of the country —Padma Shri — for the year 2010. As names of 128 names, 13 Padma Vibhushans, 31 Padma Bhushan and 84 Padma Shri awards were announced in New Delhi on Tuesday, two Biharis — Mahasundari Devi and P. K. Sen featured in the list.
