Attack on official’s vehicle

Patna: The official vehicle of Prem Kumar Srivastava, the Sitamarhi sub-divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM), was attacked by some Holi revellers near Dumra in Sitamarhi district on Monday, while he was returning from court. itamarhi superintendent of police Rakesh Kumar Rathi said three persons have been taken into custody.

Injured

Motihari: Six persons, including a police constable and a station house officer of Dhaka police station, sustained injuries on Monday evening when two groups of Holi revellers resorted to violence and the police had to open fire in self defence.

Demand

Patna: Rashtriya Pragati Party, in a meeting on Monday, demanded the abolition of the state Legislative Council. The party national president Amarkant Shah said the Upper House has become a source of wastage of money.

Eco body

Patna: Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who also holds the portfolio of environment and forest, said the Centre has issued notification to set up the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority, following recommendations by the state government. The authority will speed up the industrialisation process in the state as entrepreneurs will now be able to get no-objection certificates from the state.

Shot

Gopalganj: One Arun Kumar Rai, 30, was shot dead by persons at Bankata village under Baikunthpur police station in the Gopalganj district early Sunday morning . The cause of the murder has not been ascertained yet, police said.

Dead

Gaya: At least four persons were killed and four others injured in separate incidents in the district since Saturday evening. While Maoists abducted and killed two villagers, two Home Guard jawans were killed in separate road accidents.

Preparations

Patna: Various units of Bihar Foundation informed deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who is also the chairman of the foundation, about their preparations for Bihar Divas celebrations on Monday.
