Gandak boat capsize

Bagaha: At least 12 persons are missing after the boat ferrying them across the Gandak capsized near Narainpur ghat in the district on Tuesday morning. According to reports, about 32 people were on the boat when it capsized. uperintendent of police (Bagaha) Pushkar Anand said a National Disaster Relief Force team has rushed towards the accident site. An ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 from the chief minister’s relief fund would be paid to the next of kin of the deceased.

Virus aid

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday said Rs 50,000 would be paid to the next of kin of the children who died of encephalitis in Muzaffarpur, Gaya and Patna districts. Kumar, who held a meeting with top officials, talked to the Union health secretary and requested him to make necessary medicines available to the state to check the menace. The health secretary assured Kumar that the Centre would send a team of medical experts to the state to provide all kinds of assistance.

Raid

Patna: A team of Patna police, led by Patna city superintendent of police Kim, on Tuesday raided a shop selling watches in the New Market area and seized 99 fake wrist watches of a popular brand. The raid was carried out on the basis of a tip-off provided by some officials of the company.

Blade ruckus

Patna: A woman on Tuesday alleged that a salesman of a shop in the Nala Road area under Kadamkuan police station in which she gone, had attacked her with a blade and stolen her mobile phone. Though an FIR was lodged, sources in the police said the woman was not attacked and it could be possible that she had left her mobile phone in the shop and later raised a hue and cry.

Rights cry

Patna: The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has sent copies of a petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer and human rights activist Radhakanta Tripathy and People's Union for Civil Liberties' inquiry report to the state health secretary on an illegal tubectomy conducted by an Araria-based NGO on January 7.

Power camp

Patna: Bhagalpur Area Board general manager-cum-chief engineer K.N. Singh would hold a consumers’ redressal camp on June 19 at his official chamber to resole issues relating to bill correction, rectification in metre readings, arrears, getting new connection and load enhancement. Consumers of Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger, Lakhisarai, Jamui, and Sheikhpura can visit the camp.

CBI probe

Patna: CBI on Tuesday gave its nod to the investigation into the murder of Ranvir Sena chief Brahmeshwar Singh “Mukhiya” after the Bihar government consented to send some police officers to the agency on deputation.
